Walton Middle School is pleased to announce Mrs. Amy Bennett’s sixth period class as the winner of the WCSD's “Read To Succeed” Fall Contest. Mrs. Bennett’s students earned an astonishing 111 points on average, per student, which was 54 points higher than the classroom scoring second place in the event.

To qualify for the contest, students were required to complete six possible activities. Each time a student successfully completed an activity, his or her class earned one point.  Activity scores of 75 percent or higher earned two points.  Activity scores of 88 percent or higher earned three points. To encourage students to do their very best, extra bonus points were awarded for earning high scores on the activity.

WMS is extremely proud of Mrs. Bennet and her winning class – they really did “Read To Succeed.”

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requires that school districts provide parents with an annual school status report at the beginning of each school year. Florida's School Public Accountability Reports (SPAR) have been generated to comply with federal legislation that requires annual report cards on the educational progress of schools, school districts, and the state.

The SPAR provides information for all schools regarding:

  • Student enrollment
  • Kindergarten readiness
  • Graduation rates
  • High school dropout rates
  • Student performance in writing, reading, mathematics, and science
  • Student performance on the National Assessment of Educational Progress
  • Teacher demographic information

The SPAR for your school can be retrieved by requesting a copy directly from your school or you can access the SPAR online by visiting the website below:

WCSD will unveil the new district website on Monday, October 7, 2013.  Although school websites will not be activated until prior to the Christmas holidays, the carefully crafted design will provide a consistent appearance between the district and school pages, and will expedite navigation for students, parents, community and employees.   The district website will continue to undergo enhancements throughout the school year as additional features are activated.
