FES is piloting a new program this spring and will fully implement it next year. WatchD.O.G. Dads (Dads of Great Students)is a program designed to get fathers involved in the school as another set of eyes and hands. Dads are encouraged to volunteer one day during the year to assist with activities and events and in the classroom to encourage education and to provide positive role models for the students. We look forward to fully implementing the program next year.

Freeport Elementary School celebrated their 30th anniversary on Friday, May 4, 2018!  Guest speakers included Mr. Wayne Miller-first principal at FES and Superintendent A. Russell Hughes. The SophistiCats chorus sang, and each class sent items to be put in a time capsule to be opened in another 10 ten years. Former staff were invited to attend and former administration. Mr. Dickey, Mrs. Pam Jones, Mrs. Tammy Smith, and Mrs. Carlene Anderson were in attendance in addition to other former teachers and support staff. At the end of the program a drone took an aerial photo of the students/staff seated in the big 30 formation. Guests were invited inside for refreshments and to look at old capsule items, yearbooks, and class photo albums. Visitors had an opportunity to take a tour of the facility.  It was a wonderful event, recognizing 30 incredible years at Freeport Elementary School!

Second graders at WDE recently took a field trip to the Rocking B-A-B Ranch in DeFuniak Springs. Students were able to learn interesting facts about both common farm animals and exotic animals at the ranch. Students really enjoyed being able to pet the young animals and were excited about getting to play and eat their lunch in the Big Barn!
