WMS Acknowledges WDE Hardworking 5th Graders

Jodi Howell from Walton Middle School visited WDE this week to speak with the upcoming 6th graders. The current 5th graders listened attentively to the many requirements, programs, elective classes, sports, and other topics that were discussed. Rotary BBQ Fundraiser to Support Youth Camps

BBQ Fundraiser proceeds to benefit youth at two camps that the Rotary Club of DeFuniak Springs supports. Participants attend these camps at no charge whatsoever. The sponsoring clubs pay all costs including transportation.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Camp is for selected 10th grade students who have been nominated by their school(s) to develop their skills as a leader while having fun and making connections.

Rotary Youth Camp is an overnight summer camp for physically disabled, autistic and downs syndrome children, sponsored by Rotary Clubs across the Florida Panhandle and south to Trenton, FL. Campers are 9-21 years of age. All the usual camp activities are combined with 24 the medical staff and one on one counselors.

Freeport High School's National Honor Society spent Friday (3/9/18) afternoon working on the beautification of their school. This is the second time this year that they have worked to make the outside of their school look more beautiful! A big thank you goes to these students for the hard work and effort!! WMS AVID Students Go to College (for the Day)

On Friday, March 9th, 2018, Walton Middle School's eighth grade AVID students visited the University of West Florida to get a taste of college life. While there, students toured campus, learned about available programs, and visited student residences. After the visit, students were treated to an outdoor lunch from Chick-fil-A. AVID students ended the day with an even greater vision of their eventual successful futures. Submitted by Kristen Nelson.

WCSD Art Teachers Tour South Walton Galleries

As a kick-off to Fine Arts Education Month (March), the Visual Art instructors of the Walton County School District recently participated in a professional development Tour of South Walton Galleries. The teachers visited several Art Galleries in the South Walton/30A area and met with the artists to learn more about their artistic journeys, as well as their creative processes.
Galleries visited were Gordie Hines Gallery; Chroma/Kathleen Broaderick Studio and Gallery; Justin Gaffrey Art Gallery; Andy Saczynski Studio Gallery; Mary Hong Gallery; A. Wickey Gallery; and Adaro Art Gallery.
