On January 22, WHS students in Ms. King's biology class learned how biotechnology is important in agriculture. Mr. Donnie Richardson shared how farming has changed over the years and how genetically-modified crops have allowed greater yields with less harm to the environment. Students also learned how technology has impacted the equipment used in farming. We thank Mr. Richardson for sharing so many details about an often-misunderstood topic!

MHS hosted our annual Title 1 meeting and “Souper” Reading Night on January 31. Families were served soup and sandwiches for dinner.  Parents then visited the classrooms with their children and were given different strategies to use at home to help their child reach their reading goals.

Walton County School District schools and offices will be closed on Monday, February 18, 2019, in observance of Presidents Day. School will resume as normal on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.
MSE students brought in their spare change, which totaled $1,029.54, during the annual “Change for Children” campaign. This money will be combined with the collections from all other Walton County schools to benefit Children In Crisis, Inc., which provides a home to abused, neglected, and abandoned children in our community. The students shown here were among the 5th graders who helped collect and count the change.
