This was an incredible weekend for the Walton High Jazz Band and Winter Guard!
On Saturday, our Winter Guard finished up their season at Circuit Championships at Tate High School in Pensacola. The Guard bounced around in placement from 2nd to 3rd and even 1st at some point throughout the season, but on Saturday they gave their BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR! Their efforts did not go unnoticed as they placed FIRST IN THEIR CLASS! This will serve us well as we are having open auditions for next year's Guard during the last week of April.
On Sunday, our Jazz Band performed at Pensacola Jazzfest and did GREAT! They received compliments from many other jazz directors, audience members, and event coordinators.
You may view a 4-minute video from the Winter Guard Championships at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eX_0VTxNbBE.

WDE 5th graders participated in a reading strategy called “Table Top Twitter.” Students were able to read an excerpt form a passage with their group members and then “Tweet” their thoughts about what they read. Students were able to read each other’s comments and respond back to each other. Table Top Twitter is a great strategy for getting all students to interact with text and gives them a chance to share their thoughts about reading with each other.
