Parents, staff, and students were able to meet hundreds of  famous people at Maude Saunders Elementary School recently.  Each first grader researched,  created a cardboard cutout, and became an expert on one famous person.  Guests were delighted to get to talk one-on-one with the likes of George Washington, Barack Obama, Usher, Henry Ford, and many more famous personalities.  The teachers, students, and guests all enjoyed spending time with so many well-known faces!

Shown here are Ruby Bridges (Jeana Lee), George Washington Carver (William Anderson), Abraham Lincoln (Michael Mitchem),  Laura Ingalls Wilder (Makatie Richards),  Amelia Earhart (Kaylie Harrison), Martin Luther King (Aiden Willcox) , Mother Theresa (Payton McMillian), and Jane Goodall (Ava Taylor)

Determination is is the BES character trait of the month. These students were selected as the Students of Determination.

The sixth annual concert, “FULL SCORE:  Spring Showcase for the Arts”, will be presented at 6:30 PM at the Walton High School Auditorium on May 1st, 2015.    Ron Kelley will be the master of ceremonies for the evening as public schools bring this year’s performance highlights to the stage.

Tickets are on sale in advance for $5.00 or at the door for $7.00.   Student tickets are $3.00 and children 5 and under are free.  Students in music programs of Walton County are currently selling tickets.

This year’s concert will include elementary, chorus, band, jazz band, and steel pan drum performances.  Vocal and instrumental solos will also be included.  Music teachers have a special treat for the presentation of our National Anthem this year!

This is a fantastic way to show our community how much you support music education and the talented youth of Walton County.
